Female Catheters
Indwelling Catheters
Indwelling catheters are closed sterile system inserted into the urethra to drain the bladder. Indwelling female catheters are 6 inches long and come in French sizes of 12fr - 18fr and are often for use by Men and Women. In terms of sizes, a 16 inch indwelling catheter can also be used by females who require extra length. They are often attached to drainage bags or leg bags, including overnight bags usually used at night.
Short length with 2 opposing eyes. Permanent hydrophilic gel coating facilitates insertion and removal.
Intermittent Catheters
Female intermittent catheters also comes 6 inches long but are available for women in French sizes 8Fr - 24Fr. Unlike indwelling catheters, they are designed for those who can actually perform the procedure and are used for a short period of time. This means they can be replaced more often than indwelling catheters.
